The Team

Heather

Heather is the owner of Heather’s Gardening Service. I established the company in June 2021 as a summer job. I am a self taught gardener who learned most of what I know about plants from my plant loving mum as I was growing up (born and bred in Edmonton). I am also a parent now (April 2023) so life has gotten a lot busier but I am so glad to have the opportunity to still find time to get my hands in the soil. In the short 2 years she has been on this planet, my daughter already loves plants just as much as I do!

Colette

I’m originally from Nova Scotia and have worked internationally as a corporate chef before my transition into regenerative farming and gardening. I started my passion on a farm and botanical garden on Vancouver Island and also landscaping in Vancouver. I am deeply passionate about homesteading, culinary medicine and teaching sustainable farm to table living. I look forward to creating beautiful things with Heather and the team.

Hannah

I am currently pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Alberta and have experience in economic development and international trade. When I’m not behind a desk, I stay busy with weightlifting, painting, concerts, and caring for my 24 (and counting) houseplants.

My deep appreciation for nature comes from my mum, who taught me much of what I know about gardening. As an adult, I’ve worked as a contractor in gardening and landscaping for residential complexes. I’m excited to continue my passion for gardening this season and help create beautiful outdoor spaces with the team.

Helane

I recently relocated to Edmonton after living off-grid for a few years in rural BC, I’m excited to explore opportunities within the city with my decade-long small-scale farm experience and my love for nature.

My passion in food and sustainability has led me to travelling internationally and working across Canada to learn everything about growing food and building a  regenerative relationship with our environment thru food. I look forward to getting my hands in the soil and building/ maintaining our connection with nature one back yard at a time.

Larissa

I was born and raised in the Spruce Grove-Stony Plain area, just west of Edmonton. As a young adult, I spent many years working as a design and planning professional for commercial interiors before deciding to pursue a new career path. I am now currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in psychology. I have a deep passion for plants and gardening–I love collecting houseplants, designing and tending to outdoor landscapes, and exploring nature to discover new and unfamiliar species. I have gardened for most of my life, inspired by both my mother and grandmother, who always kept large bountiful gardens. I especially love using my harvests for home canning, so I can preserve and savour garden fresh produce and sauces year round.

Remarkably, my personal passion for nature and plants has matured into a commitment to mind-body healing, ecofeminist values, and a deep respect for our interconnectedness with the land, care, and community. As a result, I feel inspired to share my knowledge and to help or collaborate with others in finding and sustaining harmony and joy in their own green spaces.

Meegan

I am a professional actor here in Edmonton, as well as a florist and wildlife rehabilitator. I grew up in a small Albertan town where I developed my love for nature and animals. I am so excited to have the opportunity to spend more time in the soil and bring a little bit of nature to our own back (and front) yards!

Most recently, I have written and produced my own solo show about a raccoon called “The S.P.O.T.T.”. (You may have seen me walking around as a raccoon during the Edmonton Fringe Last year). I am deeply passionate about our relationship to the land, including the plants and animals which reside here, and make art about that! If I’m not making art about it, then I am helping people on the telephone at our local wildlife rehab, WILDNorth, or taking my time to enjoy nature and all of our beautiful native plants, flowers and trees.
